Ballade Pour Adeline

Richard Clayderman, the famous pianist that has been a major influence on my interest in piano. He is a French pianist who has released numerous albums, including arrangements of popular music, and popular piano works of Beethoven, Chopin and Mozart.

His recordings focus mainly on popular music and orchestral arrangements of well-known romantic songs, such as Yesterday, The Sound of Silence and Memory.

Clayderman started studying to play piano at age six, and he was accepted at Conservatoire de Paris in Paris at age 12. He became famous with "Ballade pour Adeline" which is composed by French musical producer Paul de Senneville.

The single became an instant success, selling 22 million copies in 38 countries. Since then, he has recorded over 1000 songs and has become one of the most successful instrumental recording artists in the world, with reported record sales in excess of 70 million units worldwide.

Ballade Pour Adeline...simple yet challenging to master. Been practising this piece, but yet to perfect, especially on the crescendo.

Salam ydiana,

I think I know the song, but the you tube is not functioning properly - the buffering builds, yet there is no play.

While I do like Clayderman, I would have to say my favourite modern pieces pianist are Roger Williams, Ferrente & Techer (can't remember the spelling), and a local named Shah Rir, who seem to have retired from the piano scene ;)

Hello Shah

Salam. Ok, Roger Williams the 'Born Free' songwriter, that's about all that I've heard of him. Ferrante and Teicher, the Pianist Duet. Heavy performer. Kind of like Maksim but in the olden times..oops, golden years. Whatever!

This Shah Rir guy, he should do a comeback! If not, what a waste of talent..:)

Hello Ydiana,
Evergreen and beautiful music and the piano trigger harmony feeling.

The French always has a flare in their lifestyle - cultured and colorful. Always love Paris and even Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Hi Dato'

Exactly true. Clayderman's music is soothing and enlightening. Once in a while he throws in some aggression, but enough just to 'wake you up' haha...what an expression. The word is actually crescendo. While his play is mainly simple and easy to follow, that particular part requires more attention and time to master.

And being a traveller as you were/are(?), I'm sure you'd learn to appreciate the different cultures and values thee people carry.
