I Want To Play Like This..!

Imagine....

I may be able to play this song, but this perfect...? Takes lots of time to learn and practice. Somehow, I will get there, soon....

In the meantime, enjoy this piece by 'Honouredman' from YouTube.

Salam ydiana,

Listening and watching the video, the guy is good, no doubt about it. But, unless you are born with the gift, you would need to practice on your scales to play as he does...something, which I hated to do when I was young :(

Do you have a piano at your disposal?

Hello Shah
Salam. He is definitely talented isn't he? I don't know if I am gifted, but I can naturally play any tune I want with my right hand. Then I took up a play by ear course and learn about all the music stuff and more. My interest started even when I was a little girl and during undergraduate studies, I took Music Appreciation. I still didn't play any instrument at that time, but I have always love piano music.

Yes, I ceratinly need to do lots of practice on my piano and if I get bored I switched to my keyboard for some lively accompaniment.

The scales...aaahhh. One of the b...g one. But handy to be good at.

Hi Kak Ydiana,

You should meet my brother then...He plays mostly entirely by ear...

Not just one handed, but the entire song, including the little bits of melody that isn't part of the part you usually hear when the singer sings (you know, the thrills and little chords and extra notes here and there)...

Normally we just play the main melody right? Forget the more background melody? He doesn't...

Don't ask me how...Guess he just has a gift I can't figure out...

He started going for music lessons when he was about 4 or so...=)

Hi Daphne!

Nice of you to drop by! Yes, I always admire pianist especially when they're creative and create their own version of the songs. Its called improvisation. When you can play without looking at the notes, you tend to change here and there to suit the occassion.

That's where your brother is at an advantage. He's taken the formal lessons, but also able to play without relying on the notes. As for myself, I am almost 'buta huruf' when it comes to playing with notes...hahaha.

hi ydiana

just discovered that this one isnt about the late princess diana. being able to play the piano is certainly one of the finest thing in life. at times how i wish i could play the instrument. However the truth is, I can only play mary had a little lamb although my all time fav is tchaikovsky's piano concerto no 1 in b flat minor.

Hi Shirzad

My blog about Princess Diana is 'Legendary Diana' listed on my links. As you can see, I have a few blogs..hehehe

If you can play Mary had a little lamb, then try twinkle twinkle little star. If you can play these on your own, try other songs, maybe Love Story (not Tchaikovsky in B flat yet). If you can play Love Story, I suggest you to pick up a Play by Ear course. You can definitely play.
